First Post [18 Feb 2008|02:37pm]

I haven't posted here before. I haven't finished the book I'm posting about, but it's pretty good.
Lately I haven't been interested in school readings (although Henry the 6th part 1 by Shakespeare and The Wise-Woman of Hogsdon by T. Heywood were pretty good for school readings), so I started reading a book I picked up at the library sale ($0.50, how can you go wrong??).

Book title: Before Wings
Author: Beth Goobie
Number of pages: 203

It says "Fiction, 12 and up" on the back, but don't let that fool you, I've seen the "F" word at least twice, and I'm not even half-way through!.

So far it's about a girl who suffered an brain aneurysm a couple of years back, and she's now 15, working at her aunt's summer camp. When she gets to the camp she can see spirits floating over the lake, so she thinks The Big One might happen soon (the next aneurysm that will kill her). There's a bit of teen angst, but considering her situation I can see why she'd be pissy. I still think it's a pretty good book so far. I'll post again when I've finished it (which at this rate will be soon). Sometimes you just have to read something for the hell of it, and this is one of those books.

I'm also in the middle of reading 2 other books right now (non-school). With the amount of reading I have to do for school, I might not get to finish those until April, but I'll post about them when I do. :0)

Hi all,

This is the first time I've posted here, not because I don't read, but mainly because I haven't read anything totally amazing lately. However, I just finished Speak and I am trying to get the word out to anyone who knows teenagers to get them to read this book. Well, anyone can read it, it's a great book, but it's geared toward teenagers. Anyway, here's what I posted in my LJ about it:
